anESSENCE of Romania is a portrait series of the people who became the measure of their field, at home and around the world. Sport, music, beauty, art, science and business, each seen through the lens of Edward Aninaru.
One photographer, one visual language, and for the first time, one room where these stories stand side by side. Conceived as a touring exhibition, the series opens in Iași and grows with every city it travels to, with new faces joining along the way.

A portrait.
A lasting presence.
One image. One edition.
Each portrait is offered in one edition of 5 numbered prints plus 2 Artist’s Proofs, at the size stated on its page. No other editions or sizes exist or will be produced. Every print is signed and numbered and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
Edition pricing
Prints 1 and 2: $2,000. Prints 3 and 4: $3,000. Print 5: $4,000. Prices rise as the edition sells and are never discounted. Artist’s Proofs are released only after the edition is sold out. Read the full edition details.

50% of the price of every print acquired through this website goes to the Bethany Social Services Foundation (Fundația Serviciilor Sociale Bethany), calculated on the full sale price.
Acquiring a print
Choose your portrait to view its edition and price. Online purchasing will open when the exhibition shop launches. Each print is delivered with a certificate of authenticity. Prices are for the unframed print. Framing, shipping and applicable sales taxes are quoted separately.
Prints ship from Los Angeles, and import VAT and duties are paid by the buyer on delivery.

Editions
Each portrait in anESSENCE of Romania is an original photograph by Edward Aninaru, printed in a single limited edition of 5 numbered prints plus 2 Artist’s Proofs, at the size stated on its page. This is the only edition of each image. No other editions or sizes exist or will be produced. The digital master file is retained by the artist and will not be used to produce any further prints.
Every print is made on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth, a 305 gsm, 100% cotton archival paper, and is signed and numbered by the artist. Each print is delivered with a certificate of authenticity stating the full edition details.
How pricing works
Prices follow the edition. The earliest prints are offered at the lowest price, and the price rises as the edition sells:

PERSONNA — INNA. Print 1 of 5 will be offered at auction at Balul de la Castel on September 25 with 100% of the proceeds going to Fundația Serviciilor Sociale Bethany. Prints 2 to 5 will be available here after the auction.
